Can You Dare See a Future?

Can You Dare See a Future?
Can You Dare See a Future?

Just a glimmer of a future in peace,
is all that keeps us focused,
a transformation of magnitude
from a species wanting,
elusive dreams forged in hope
that one day will appease
the suffering now felt.

If only that were a priority
in people’s lives,
not buying homes and cars
to maintain the lies of fulfillment due,
when manipulation is all that ensues,
compliance the glue to societies,
captivity the truth.

So entrenched in dogma,
we cling to it still believing in security,
that affords those
who partake the good life,
only to find in the end the rewards
never come, the process too wearing
to overcome in dreams.

So do we pray in vein,
are our hopes just too improbable,
a peace to find, a life sublime from a broken past,
where greed enforced the rules,
when we were just tools of ill-employ,
slaves to systems that stifled who we were,
and reward slipped through our hands?

I shudder to think a future,
a bleak prospect from what is here right now,
so what will it take to change this vow,
where wealth does rule
and the rights of the masses, few;
can we evoke change
to placate the deranged thoughts of tyrants?

The spirit is strong, but when hatred abounds,
those of rule so heartless and cold,
use it against us, to fight
among ourselves in their control,
and culling just fine for their purposes,
as we struggle to just survive,
the circumstances contrived for our restraint.

This piece to me is very sad and thought provoking. For myself I do not think I pray in vain. And if I did think I pray in vain then what would be the point? Sometimes I believe you just need a leap of faith to carry on – that is what I do..

Thanks Kurt, yes there is always hope and to that we cling. The problem is people have become complacent about the state of the world and the path in which we are heading has not return. Sad but true. Cheers!
