Whispers Before I Wake

Whispers Before I Wake
Whispers Before I Wake

Diaphanous veils so freely flowing
in the movement of growing light,
as if through the multicolored wings
of a dragonfly in flight,
sun but a reflection on earth,
a refraction through the restless air,
as awaken I do, my shear curtains rife
with morning air’s fluid dance.

Flickering across ponds and streams,
the light, as if stars in distant plight,
sprinkled upon a mind to reveal magic,
the flowing glittering light bouncing,
colliding with earthly states,
as my eyes slowly find clarity,
my mind the validity of visions
transferred from dream and night.

Warm those shards, delivered so silently
into my dreams to awaken the season,
the new day’s rise,
as birdsong echoes lightly
through my senses,
pensive moments restored,
as my wandering mind implores
fresh thoughts.

Blue skies vast
and embracing earth’s sustaining,
like a shadow light expanse,
in infinite dance of time and space,
hangs so gently above,
while misted clouds thrive
in burgeoning forms,
like adornments to perfection’s bloom.

And as I assume a conscious state,
filled with strutting ideas to sate,
this body stretches in blissful connection,
stirring plans of day’s begin,
and all the recollections of yesterday’s echo
lightly dusting the new,
the hues of reminiscence,
my queue to rise.

The sun such a welcomed sign,
to stir us from slumber’s ache,
and so gentle its nudge,
to ease us from those languid dreams,
and hold I do those last thoughts
before I wake, not to lose their memories
for all they say,
in whispers to my heart.
