Our Pride of Place

Our Pride of Place
Our Pride of Place

At what cost, those storms given symmetry
by halcyon days, winter’s malaise
a sympathy for violent affronts,
where maelstroms tear the fabric of life apart,
the din a holocaust of ravaged past,
shredded states of windswept malady,
cinders flown up flues to vent the flames,
and what remains so devastating.

Like foods cover life in desperate plights,
a fatal cleansing, a lack-luster light
unseen by those drowning in the fight for life,
when fateful days come calling,
and Mother’s mood the swell of rivers,
delivers such human tragedy,
what of that cost, the travesty of circumstance,
a dance of will against the storm.

And fires from single flames ignite,
a careless oversight to annihilation,
sweeping lands like the sound of thundering hooves
everything removed in those flames of hell unleashed,
as if a malicious mind, winding ways to find
and quash any resistance, a persistent foe
of such deadly suffering,
death becomes release, having faced the demon.

The cost is great, the suffering undeniable,
yet Mother has no agenda,
just the cause and effect of its living balance,
the earth in undulations, of breath and rise and fall,
elements on call, as we in human life
learn to heed this call
and respect her every need and will,
her blistering summers and winter’s chill.

We the guests in her wonderland,
this earth our home of possibilities,
to stand upon our feet, meet her needs
and care for all she is,
for without her we are no more,
and know her ways a must, to survive,
to live at peace with all her plays and strife,
for our own lives depend upon it.

With no intent, disaster is a common play on earth,
just as we create our own, so Mother is prone,
her expression to be known and understood,
and in reverence we should respect her ways
for they will not abate,
as she this earth is fated to its own life, as ours,
circumstances abound and she in balance provides
our nourishment, our pride of place.

Yes, guest we are in the Mother’s wonderland. It is our obligation and should be everyone’s joy to care for her, for without the Mother we would cease to exist. Great work, Tony. Take care.
