Of Days Gone By

Days Gone by …

We were so very young,

in a time of great change,

our hearts were pure and true,

our dreams just incredible in days gone by.

We lived and loved,

friends to the bitter end,

laughed and danced

and longed for true romance.

It was a time like no other,

strutting to a disco beat,

these moments come but once in a lifetime

and then just in the blink of an eye, they fade away.

High school ruled our hearts,

like rock and roll our souls.

Friendships never forgotten,

memories engraved forever.

We were like wild birds,

that could fly to the skies,

we had dreams

and hopes for a bright tomorrow.

Now scattered everywhere,

but true friendships never die,

we have our special times –

that have bound us forever more.

Dreamy reflections tell the passing of time

and sometimes I wonder,

if the same stars –

are still twinkling in our eyes.

I know that who we once were we still are,

my friends tell me we’re still the same.

Where it counts in our hearts and souls –

only the firelight has become dimmer.

Oh, I know that still,

we could bend time to our will,

if only we keep on believing,

if only we keep on dreaming.

Days come and days go,

but I still know,

that rock and roll has that magic –

to bring me back to yesteryear.

No, it hasn’t been so long,

I do believe they’re still playing my song,

I still have my best friends

and haven’t lost all of my hopes.

Sometimes I wonder,

if growing old is a myth,

if we continue to be young at heart

and keep true to ourselves.

So I’ll treasure the days,

that have been,

the friends that I miss

and the memories that shine so very bright.

Lovely and nostalgic reminiscing, Rasma. Your verse is a pleasure to read. Very nice phrasing. Well done.

SEO side: You had ‘days gone by’ for the keyword the word ‘by’ is a stop word which should not be used as a keyword. I changed your keyword to ‘days gone’, which I put in the first paragraph, the meta and the image alt text. I also extended your meta to the green line. These fixes boosted your SEO score from Ok to Good.

Thank you, Phyllis. Also, thank you for fixing the SEO. I always have problems figuring that but will remember by as a stop word.

You are most welcome, Rasma. SEO fixes are what I do as editor and I enjoy helping. I will be putting notes in the comment section of a post on SEO fixes I did. I feel that is better for quicker notification – it is not a critique, just my job. 🙂

Lovely work Rasma, and I believe too the importance of being young at heart, holding onto that wonder for all its worth. Our loves may come and go in life, but love lasts forever and two souls entwined live on, once way or another. Great work dear friend.

Thank you, Tony. I also believe that two very loving souls eventually find one another again in some other life.
