Lost in the Secrets of Self

What secrets can I tell you,
you don’t already know,
tucked away in some attic trunk,
deep inside your abode,
and so rarely do you look inside,
to find a truth or coincide
with some insight, you may
of may not have sewn.
Don’t look at me
with those questioning eyes,
tis you who turn away
with a compromise,
rather than face the innate truth
within your soul,
secrets that you hold from yourself,
your vain attempt to ignore.
The conundrum is you,
two sides to a coin,
one in the shadows you may not know,
for that is where deception starts,
secrets held and lies to part,
protecting you from anything of light,
that could reveal your true nature,
the sacrifice of good.
What’s real and make believe
is ours to implore,
but truth eventually finds us,
that we can be sure,
and its better to know what’s there
before is cuts,
for ignorance is hardly bliss,
when we must bare its brunt.
What secrets do we hold,
what truths that demean us
if the truth be told,
honesty is a cold wall to face,
but release is a far better grace,
to know exactly who we are,
and if unwanted, a chance to change,
to aspire to a better hold on life.
So don’t ask me about your secrets,
those yourself can know,
if you are honest and truly face them,
their deliverance will show,
and in release you will find happiness,
a truth so welcomed you will wonder
why you hid from them so long,
in the shadow of a song as yet unsung.

Secrets untold are truths unknown. Truths must be spoken lest we forget. Nicely penned and emotive piece, Tony. Take care always, dear poet.
Thanks Phyllis, glad you appreciated the work. Take care dear friend.
