How Deep is Your Love?

How deep is your love,
the aching need to be with someone,
to share and live with alternate breaths,
so closely attuned in life’s undulations
of plight and learning?
When physical aspects fade,
and two souls face each other in transparency,
how deep is love set, to know there is no other,
to want for nothing apart from
the soul that stand beside you?
There is an essence, a knowing
that from the beginning two souls connect,
but beyond the innate need for propagation,
for the pleasure of physical copulation,
do two souls truly become one?
Without the romantic projection of desire,
what two souls have is uniquely separate,
unless love evolves and acceptance,
tolerance and the will for longevity is founded,
two souls cannot deepen their covenant.
Rarely relationships are expected, they are made,
through hard work, compromise
and a love far deeper than romantic love,
forever the core of their union and the purpose
of enduring life’s challenges and rewards.
The chances of this love are rare,
but more likely when universal love is nurtured,
the ability to love all forms of life
and appreciate the opportunity of experiencing
all of what life and love affords.
When we live a life of love,
of caring and service to life,
we engender an acceptance of compromise,
of working toward maintaining a happy union,
no matter what the circumstance.
Love in this higher level
of consciousness is unbreakable,
eternal in its acceptance and devotion,
and two souls aligned within this paradigm,
are indeed soul mates.

As it is written. Your verse is beautiful beyond all that is, Tony, for love is the core of life. Love for all living things is life itself.
Well said Phyllis, as always, your remarks are like a breath of fresh air
Glad you appreciated the work Phyllis. Take care.
How right you are. This type of love is almost earned in the trials and tribulations you go through with the partner you chose to go through them with. Love’s test is what you wrote about, when the physical aspect has all but withered or vanished, when the carnal desire to jump each other’s bones is an afterthought, will those feelings you decided to call love stand in the face of reality, of dull nights in front of a pixelated screen? If it will then you have attained Love of the greatest depth. Great, profound piece my friend. Nice work.
Glad you related and enjoyed my thoughts Paul, your kind words very much appreciated. Cheers!
Beautiful and prophetic words, meaning, description and a resounding value upon love and life. Well written Tony, you have my compliments
