Hero or Villain?
…Choose a Face….
Are you a hero or a villain?
Well that depends on the topic
Is this the life you’ve forsaken?
The one found in your optics
Psychotic or symbolic
How you relate to all the gossip
Is it toxic or is it tonic
The way to expand this logic
When you see someone in trouble
Does your blood flow increase
The caprice to save them important
To be salvation before the police
With life in conceit or at peace,
How you live is your lease
Released to destroy or achieve
Each consequence has a receipt.
Soul-searching persists to widen
with your horizons broadening
In some selfish vanity
You’d forgotten your calling
And tragedy kept snowballing
Mushroomed to the point of falling
In need of overhauling
how negligence kept evolving
The choice was yours, ride or change
At least a thought would proliferate
Whether good or bad didn’t matter
You needed to assimilate
Reinforce what you were of late
Walk the narrow and straight
Adjust yourself and your gait
And tow that line whether love or hate.
Responsibility with ascent
Deniability with descent
The augmentation is there
And growth goes where it is sent
Adverse growth conveys malcontent
and some obliging growth keeps mayhem pent
Sure it keeps everything content
But it leaves no provision to vent
So I ask you once again
Are you a hero or a villain?
Can you sacrifice for greater good?
Are you comfortable with killing,
Physically, mentally spilling,
Either way you are not forgiven
Life is not as it was written
What side holds the key to your prison?
The sand will make its own line
Then run out, it’s not kittens and linen
The life choices you make have burden
you have to see the vision
understand the mission
not all is cured with penicillin
and at times to madness you are driven
and just one kid takes a village.

As always some poignant questions pose in regard to this path of earthly life. Clever phrasing and use of rhyme Paul, always thought-provoking and very much admired my friend. Cheers!
Well done, Paul. You rhyme and phrasing are great. A very thought provoking piece. Great work, my friend.
