Drive-in Movie on Saturday Night

Everyone welcome, drive on in!
Don’t wait until dark when the show begins
Bring the kids and bring grandma too
A single car price for the entire crew
Drive-in movie on a Saturday night
Previews begins promptly at twilight
If you’re on a date, don’t be late
Grab a spot in the back; hurry! Don’t wait!
Others on the hunt; take the family up front
Find that perfect spot in the parking lot
Then settle in ‘cause you beat the lines
The summertime crowd is feeling fine
There’s cars waiting bumper to bumper
With smiling faces in every window
In the booth tonight, a double feature
Frightening tale of a green swamp creature
But first be sure you’ll see one for the kids
Full of guaranteed laughter and tickled ribs
So, park your car and have some fun
But keep an eye on the setting sun
Attach your speaker to the window ledge
The new stereo sound is cutting edge
Children laughing, baby’s napping
Mom and Dad relaxing, jokes ‘a cracking
Pass the popcorn ‘cause we’re doing fine
The concession booth and its lengthy line
Drive-in movie; what could be better?
Giant screen for our viewing pleasure
Watching the boys chatting, girls passing
Drinking soda pop, eating candy rocks
Socializing, advertising, glamorizing
At last the sound of the projection machine
And all eyes turn toward the silver screen

Great memories of when I was a kid. Used to go with Mum and Dad on weekends, and when a teenager in Dad’s care. A shame they hardly exist any more. I think there’s still one in our state. Time’s change but they were good memories. Nicely penned Ralph and a great time recalled. Cheers
So wonderful to recall those fun memories. Your excellent phrases bring it all back with your delightful, unique style, Ralph. Well done.
Loved this. Thanks for the summertime memories.
