So You Want to be a Citizen?
Stand in line and do the time
The legal way to join the nation
Fill out the forms, learn the norms
Learn the language and the customs
Obey our laws, mind your paws
Our children aren’t yours for the taking
Fly our flag, don’t let it drag
Put away your former nation
It takes some discipline to become a citizen
Keep your culture but learn ours too
Don’t be a snob and get a job
It’s a place of unlimited opportunity
We have our rules, we have our schools
Nothing changes because you’re here
We haven’t snapped, you must adapt
Embrace a new way of living
We’re a beacon with religious freedom
Don’t try to change our way of thinking
We take pause to foreign laws
It’s America, not the United Nations
If you want to pray throughout the day
Don’t demand a special building
No secret cards or checkpoints guards
Travel free across the land
Leave your hate at the southern gate
Learn to live with different people
Don’t buck the order and cross the border
It’s called a crime against the nation
If you overstay, they’ll come a day
When ICE comes knocking at your door
You think it’s cool to break the rules
We’ll reward you with a deportation
Home of the brave, if you behave
And all the freedoms we enjoy
We welcome you to our barbeque
Have a burger or a dog
Meet the neighbors, read the papers
Buy some red and white and blue
Take the chance; when you advance
You’ll find the Green Card benefits
We might seem broken, but doors are open

Well said Ralph, we have the same problems here with illegal immigrants and also those who seemingly refuse to assimilate because of religion or culture. They must abide the host countries laws and culture in order to fit and be of worth as a citizen. Many do not, instead make ridiculous demands. My attitude is if they will not accept our way of life, then back from whence they came. Nice work my friend.
