We Just Dismiss

Transparency means vulnerability,
and that is why every leader on earth
measures truth with a paranoid apprehension,
and as a consequence we never know the real truth,
fake news our daily sustenance.
There is little to believe,
as truth is afforded in micro-portions,
encrusted by illusions of manufactured reality,
endless parades of deceptive plays,
sought to placate our concerns or questions.
A silent accepting masses is fodder for leadership
to do exactly what they want, any time they want,
and we just watch movie s and play video games,
lost in the delusion of security
we are so patriotically led to believe.
In truth we are slaves to a system,
addicted to the models sold to us:
owning expensive houses, cars and possessions,
being in debt to have a better life,
working til we bleed to provide for our families and country…
prosperity for all, yet equality for none.
The truth is we are ground down to compliance,
suffering the stress of great debt,
the pressure of maintaining employment,
working more and more until family is a distant relative,
and in the end who benefits?
We live in a class system of haves and have nots,
and we are convinced we should fight to be the haves,
in societies that discriminate, are greatly racist
and keep us in separation, contending with one another
in distraction, to keep the wheels of power smoothly turning.
I wonder how we got like this,
how slowly this dismantling of society
has gone virtually unnoticed,
or have we become so complacent, and
as long as we have our technology and distractions, we are content.
Its as if we are stuck on the first sentence of a paper
that predicts in no uncertain terms, our demise,
but we just cant see it, can’t see the whole,
just one innocuous sentence
that we simply dismiss.

It is really sad where humanity is today. If only people can remember we each have a mind of our own we would not depend on leaders who do not have a mind worthy of following. Great work, Tony.
Thanks Phyllis, I don’t really like getting political, but the world is in such a mess. Take care
