The Honor in a Creative Life

The Honor in a Creative Life
The Honor in a Creative Life

Inspired by Paul Neglia’s work ‘Blanked Over’

There is honor in being creative,
and as it is a reflection of life itself,
when we create in any art form,
we connect to that original spark of creation,
the intention of pursuing perfection,
and therefore a mirrored divinity.

Only a true artists understand this,
the soul’s ascension to higher thought and communication,
seeking deeply within to find that flow
of expression connected with life,
and in our pursuit we are humbled
by our own potential, our capacity to see truth.

We seek beauty, we seek reality
and above all connection with others,
and in this way we propagate that life force,
our beginnings and potential to become
all that our imagination proffers in will,
to better our minds and our human lives.

For any writer, there is no greater gift
than being read, being understood and to inspire,
for that is what we need, to connect and share
what runs through our veins,
what is at our core in expression,
and no accolade, no reward is greater.

Many may not understand,
our words perhaps missing their heart, their mind,
but perhaps they are not ready to hear,
as being attuned to a creative mind is not automatic,
it must share an intellect, a common ground,
in order to connect, one mind with another.

A creative mind is complex,
a heart open and delving into the psyche,
exploring the human condition with singular purpose,
so to better fathom this journey of life
to understand the self and then others,
sharing the epiphanies afforded.

There is honor in a creative life,
for all we pursue is honing our craft,
and sharing what’s in our heart and mind,
and if only a few in kind know who we are,
then we must be satisfied with that,
because our lives are about quality, not quantity.

Oh so heart-warming is this beautiful tribute to the creative mind, to poets. Your words have wrapped my heart with gratitude to those who give of their hearts and souls as you and Paul do. Great work Tony. Well done dear poet. Take care.
