Reckless Venting, the Last Straw

Reckless Venting, the Last Straw
Reckless Venting, the Last Straw

Happy venting, sending messages with sting,
as time imparts its droll mockery and brings
a sense of pointless release,
a cathartic brief of recompense for all our disdain,
all that flows against the grain.

Cleansing though it be, this venting to a degree,
is still negative, not a pretty sight,
like shedding skin to free a blight,
but feels good in letting go,
throwing all our woes from the shadows.

Perhaps better served cold,
in a solitary space where no-one gets hurt,
venting is a burden given with no alert,
and out of respect we should reject the sharing,
and with ourselves alone, let fly.

Anger builds piecemeal,
and when its too late, explodes,
the weight suddenly too much to hold,
as we bear the burden and react in venting,
all in range ducking the bullets we are sending.

I guess its a process of need,
so not to hold this seed of anger,
and better it be a controlled explosion,
not an erosion of those we know,
lost to friendly fire.

So I quietly release my woes in silent consideration,
where no-one has to hear my complaints,
my lack of restraint not conjecture,
just quietly under my control,
the dispersion of pent up wrongs and feelings let go.

Never been one for fuss
and scenes of impropriety,
so rather keep it to myself and break it down,
consider with understanding what holds me to this seed,
an anger of displeasure that may lead to havoc.

I observe so many who explode,
no control or hold on emotions,
the last straw drawn and rage so torn from reason,
a season of wintry malcontent
that squarely puts them in the spotlight of risk.

‘The Human Condition’ indeed. We are forever learning as we confront ourselves and inner feelings. Emotions, especially anger, need to be expressed in such a way to clear the stale air and free the soul of pent up tension. I used to stand out by the garage and throw a tennis ball as hard as I could against the wall, with vivid imagery and not so nice words. Worked every time, so I could then express and release words of confrontation calmly to help resolve issues. Wish i had a tennis ball now – today was one from hell and I am exhausted mentally and physically. My only recompense is that I did get a lot of organizing done. I enjoyed your work here, Tony. It is blunt, yet, inspiring. Well done, dear friend. Take care.

Glad it makes sense to you, as we all tend to forget and let things get all pent up. Hope things settle down soon, its such an unsettling time, moving and everything that goes with it. Take care
