Our Greatest Potential

Let us begin,
one step at a time,
a heart in rhyme with love,
and no excuses of hurt or pain
can relent this travesty of denial,
when happiness in echoes reach
a soul buried deep,
a mind in fear of what love is.
We may contend,
we may recommend a capricious life,
deny our needs to sacrificial lambs,
and run from truth,
a ruse that will claim us in the end,
yet that spark within
in constant din rings true our necessity,
a love partaking reality.
We may draw on all our guile,
to fashion facade’s veiled faces,
in hope of a stealth worthwhile,
yet in hearts true, that echo remains in view,
of a knowing that love is all we are,
and denying it is like denying
our very lives, as if a dream,
a scheme of infidelity.
Let us begin,
a step further than sin,
and let truth abide where we hide,
trying to survive alone,
and withdrawn we may be,
but love’s seed is potent,
and we cannot hide forever,
not seeing what we need.
Love is our saviour,
that part of us that bleeds,
that hurts so dramatically,
yet the tears are profoundly marked,
the potential of love starved
and yearning release,
for we are love’s progeny,
and in epiphany it waits.
Denial is just fear’s antipathy,
a cause so close to aversion,
so close to the truths showing,
we are our greatest potential in love.

To reach a buried heart takes gentleness and understanding. For the one who has been hiding, that first step to the beginning is beautiful and shows faith in Self. For the two to come together is a step to our greatest potential, that which we all need – love. Yet, it is so much more than need, it is reaching for truths and still much more. Beautiful work, Tony. Take care and keep faith.
Glad you appreciated the work Phyllis. Enjoy your evening. Cheers
The greatest potential for man is indeed centered in love, for there is where we are from. Well done, Tony!
