Open to the Will of Life

Sealed in a tomb not yet ascribed,
we so often create walls in life,
the limitations that guide us
to that believed inevitability,
a tomb built at the beginning,
an end without misgiving.
We honour that tomb,
we fashion it with the bricks
of the words we attest,
the beliefs we manifest in time,
to be our truth by default,
a predictable rhyme of irony.
Each word, each thought does matter,
and when we keep affirming,
those bricks keep building,
until those walls inhibit our every move,
a pathway ensued to expectations,
limits we provoke in machinations.
Soon our lives become narrow,
the periphery too closed
to really be advantageous,
and guided by beliefs set in concrete,
does not allow truth to seep
into our cognizance.
We disable ourselves for being rigid,
beliefs too harsh for acceptable change,
and so we live constrained,
a fitting end to life just falls away
as we in our tombs of choice,
settle in our resolution.
What freedom affords is dismissed,
and guidelines too straight to accrue,
no tangent paths or unknown doors are opened,
when we live incarcerated
in our own expectations and choices,
voiced word by word, brick by brick,
until we are enclosed.
Let no word or thought imprison,
let no paradigm dictate,
for truth is a flighted bird,
evolving as we evaluate its worth,
and in acceptance find our essence,
our paths open to the will of life.

So true, Tony, words of wisdom to always remember. It is really important what words and thoughts we put into our life path. It is far too easy to build a tomb “brick by brick” and imprison ourselves. We so need to care for our wings and soar to our highest potential. Excellent work dear poet. x
Much appreciated Phyllis, so pleased you enjoyed the thoughts dear friend. Take care.
Great poem, wisdom in your powerful words. In life we build walls that imprison us and we begin to live in the constraints of the walls forgetting that there is so much more to life beyond the walls.
Thanks Nithya, so glad you appreciated the work. Take care.
