My Infinite Gaze

‘I rarely use traditional rhyming schemes like this one… AAAB, but sometimes the work needs parameters and this is one such work. Hope you enjoy it.’
Stars and planets, galaxies too,
resound in time’s accepting hues,
as ambivalent minds in gaze pursue,
nothing but the darkness.
For me those lights of distant past,
glimmer for all the questions asked,
and answers still in life so vast,
whisper truths in silence.
And in my calm and pondering gaze,
of eternal skies in life’s parade,
I feel the rise and fall in miracles made,
so effortlessly enduring.
As time melts away the evening play,
my thoughts wandering, my heart allayed,
a sense of belonging, a connection made,
does quell my questioning mind.
For life above in mirror’s due,
affirms my place, my life ensued,
to welcome all that questions true,
this majestic eternal quandary.
And I rest at night within my plight,
and dream of more through mind and sight,
to understand this infinite rite,
of life given so freely.
Perhaps I should not question at all,
accept and not temp to forestall,
my dreams in every moment sought,
to just hold on to the present.
For time is just our illusion,
our lifetime but a flicker of movement,
and trying to fathom just intrusion,
in a world so calmly flowing.
So I find comfort in those infinite skies,
and seek not the remedy of unknowing lies,
for me to contend and in sadness reprise,
what I may never know.
For life is a gift, a tryst for a soul’s evolution,
and I just a facet of an illusion,
learning as I go to a foregone conclusion,
an aspiring toward perfection.

Nice rhyme scheme, Tony, and well phrased verse. I have been up all night packing and took breaks on the patio gazing up at the clear dark sky – such beauty up there with lights of the past, I love it. And I love this work of yours. Well done. Take care dear poet. x
Thanks Phyllis, glad you enjoyed it. Poor thing, I hate packing and moving, its definitely no fun. It will be over soon. Tak care
