Kissed By Angels

She often wondered,

if the man she loved –

was heaven sent.

For he amazed her,

kept her safe from harm,

as the days went by –

he often made her sigh.

When he held her tight,

his love seemed to shine so brightly –

perhaps at birth, he had been kissed by angels.

Down by the river,

they’d be dreaming,

in would roll dark clouds,

she thought the rain would come,

then he smiled his brightest,

the wind blew all the clouds away,

the sun would come shining down

and there by the river –

they could stay.

Upon a rainy summer’s day,

she longed to stray,

in meadows of wildflowers.

He took her by the hand

and when she opened the door,

everything was shining,

with shimmering raindrops

and a rainbow stretched across the sky.

His kisses sent her reeling,

it was such an incredible feeling,

her heart would boom,

just like a brass drum,

while love songs –

in her ear, he would hum.

Then one dark night,

as she sat dreaming,

beneath the stars,

while moonbeams,

danced about,

she thought she could hear,

angel choirs from up above.

Then she knew,

that the man she loved,

had been kissed by angels,

when he was born,

blessed in many ways,

to be loved by him,

meant to be cherished,

her whole life through –

never would they part.
