If You Cast a Shadow…
At last, the shadow cast,
an inalienable vision of form,
a reality, perhaps a travesty forlorn,
yet in my evaluation,
doubts linger like firefly nights,
directions impeding
on seemingly erratic flight,
yet under light your shadow
is sharp and attests you.
Imagination’s festering bite,
long led me to believe this plight,
but under my hopes
buried deep within the truth,
no-one’s there to erect
my elusive wishes, static bitches,
the stitches I’ve sewn
to manifest a soothing compliance,
a reliance on my scope.
But there you are, stark and suspending,
surely with a shadow
truth’s no longer pretending,
and as much as I desired,
the fires of my soul expired,
I believed not you would show,
real as my dreams and more,
this vision I forecast
in my last breath of knowing.
If I wake will you vanish,
the lies I’ve lied about
that tarnish my mind, advantaged,
will come back to haunt me,
delude and defraud me,
all for the want of you,
manufactured to sublimate
the thoughts of you my fate,
never-ending in compliance.
If I see through the doubts,
wear rose colored glasses,
these bouts of delusion
will disappear,
or even take me deeper
into my despair,
where none shall see the light,
despite this vision of you that’s here,
before my very eyes.
