For the Symmetry of Human Thought

Building bridges with words
is a feat of engineering,
a determining of worthy expression,
a predilection for soul shine,
glossed and in heaven’s reign,
like a star aflame with desire,
afire in a night sky.
When words mark our deepest truth,
we are truth’s vessel of righteous intent,
open as a summer bloom,
colored as an iris of orchard assumed,
its very life and propagation,
my machination of purity,
driven to manifestation.
How words dictate our world,
soothe souls, create division, and engender
every emotion possible in this human condition,
yet we so abuse their meanings,
their potential in keeping,
and in doing so lose their essence,
placating their latent accumulation.
Souls may be the countering of negativism,
the core of contention
and the spite of vengeful rages,
all with a tongue of intent,
an attitude of venting or attesting thoughts
that in words ignite response
as circumstances ensue.
Building bridges is an art,
a point of contention compromised
in passive speak, and in placation,
a surrender to commonality,
an acceptance and respect of alternate viewpoints,
thus a civil outcome to possible escalation,
all within the connection of language.
Words are honourable things,
their meanings and interaction with other words
a story so individually complex in nuance,
and the art of expression a key to a soul,
an open-minded brain
willing to learn ad infinitum,
for the symmetry of human thought.

Words are powerful and so versatile, for there are so many ways to use them – interpreting their intent is in the phrasing, and in the heart. Your works on the human condition are always so interesting and enjoyable to read, Tony. Well done.
So glad you appreciate it Phyllis; hope things are settling down a bit, moving is always a strain. Take care.
