Be Kinder to Your Needs…
The lingering sound of a temple bell fills my mind,
its trill resonance like a sustained birdsong,
echoing through my being,
its vibrations like massage to the soul,
every bit of it a sensation of worth,
a soothing rebirth of sensory wonder.
In this calm tranquillity,
thoughts slowly manifest like oozing honey,
slow and glutinous at first,
yet flowing with such constancy
they become a process, a counterpoint of thought,
opening like blooms amid sunlight.
Yearning to be blessed, nurtured,
those thoughts transcend moments
with beguiling propositions, each one an incision
into the old flesh of belief,
and revelations appear so easily,
so freely to attest their opening,
a simple turn of leaf.
That bell is just a single note of purity,
a lingering annuity of love’s hold,
that spark within, risen to find light
in our wayward plights in life,
and their embracing resonance a vibration of opening,
a vulnerability of our soul innate,
where everything within is shown.
Peace reigns in a quiet heart,
not conflicted with human life,
but letting go the daily occurrences
that may hamper the peace,
the balance that we so need in adjustment,
as time grinds away at our resolve, our patience,
so we may rest as whole beings.
And in that rest, a quiet resolve
to do more and more, for self,
be kinder and respect our own needs
as we need balance too,
and the world will not implode
should we be missing for a few moments,
a time to find that vibration of calm we need.
The temple bell always calms me,
its note a key to my relenting,
my surrender to the reality I need time and quiet,
to sustain this body, mind and soul,
keep me whole and connecting
to a world so stressed and demanding,
when I can just watch it all go by.

How very important it is to find time to rest in tranquil kindness to self. Very peaceful, enjoyable read, Tony. Lovely.
Much appreciated Phyllis, yes we all need it, some peace and quiet time. Cheers!
