Writing for Love

Just another writer, just another voice,
the world filled with voices,
a cacophony of crying intolerance,
yet no-one hears the single voice,
overwhelmed with the rising dissonance,
no-one can differentiate
the benevolence or malevolence,
too muddied by all the voices,
all the ideas and choices,
in a confused and frantic world.

When will truth be recognised,
when doctrines are seen to expose
the deceit and manipulation,
from where all these voices arose,
and who will be heard,
what will it take for a single epiphany
to transform a world so cloistered in lies,
and if by chance some voice alone can show,
that love is all we’ll ever need and know,
will humanity listen?

We who write for change,
who write for love, for equality
and harmony, do not write alone,
for we are many and one day the world will listen,
finally take notice of all those who for years
trying to be heard, are noticed,
and in that epiphany, listening to our words,
the world may find a path back to balance,
an acceptance of the natural world
and in respect, harmony.

We the writers have faith,
we believe in the potential of humanity,
but also know the greed and reckless disregard
that has placed us in peril,
and in our words of hope
we pray for sentience to prevail
so we, our children and our children’s children,
can live in peace and the beauty
of this our earth, our home;
then and only then will our job be done.
