Where I’m Supposed to Be

Where I'm Supposed to Be
Where I’m Supposed to Be

Clean the day,
as if doused and cleansed by night,
before those first rays of light appear,
a delicate golden touch,
an afferent smile of intention,
as day in pristine condition begins its rise.

And first breath is as much a sigh,
as swirling dreams rescind their guile
and cognizance aspires to face
that myriad of opportunities,
those fresh eyed desires that come to mind,
as clarity takes hold.

Breakfast in sunlight,
a joy of senses and mind,
the warmth in kind awakens every cell
to giving, tasks no longer eased in sleep,
but honoring the reaping of life in cascade,
as morning slowly drifts by.

In full clarity the mind changes gear,
the body on missions of rejuvenation,
submissions to expectations and contracts
we abide in purpose filled living:
work, play and exercise in quantities allotted,
schedules constructed to achievement’s need.

We become machines,
driven accomplishments to succeed
and to earn our number, our place,
to fit and be recognized for our share,
the upkeep of which is society’s fair
and necessary compliance.

Some will follow their dreams,
do what they do in abiding their gifts, their loves,
and for they the greatest gift of joy
accompanies all their day,
each moment in righteous step for they,
on their journey of life.

Otherwise the sun is just a light switch,
an indication of arduous tasks,
a timed alarm for compliance,
a means of all those possessions sought,
and every moment a game of advancement,
the enhancement of all we neglect to see.

The day abounds in beauty,
sky adorned by fluffy white clouds,
and as I write this soul rejoices,
knowing that my choices are right,
and days as everything they can be
sooth my every breath.

Exactly what is felt in this nomad soul, as one day becomes the restful night, then to return to those “long” hedged duties of the next sun arched presence. Complete, and well done, my poetic friend!

Tis good for one to know they are where they should be at this point in time. Very nicely expressed, Tony. Great work.
