What’s For Us, Can’t Pass By Us

What’s For Us, Can’t Pass By Us

We may be swayed
by ‘too good to be true’ offerings,
empty promises and beguiling voices,
but in the end, what benefits us
does not abound in thoughts of fantasy,
but rather the unannounced arrival of opportunity,
shining in black and white prospects,
not vetted as ‘too good to miss’.

Most of these so called opportunities
are saturated with intention,
attached to the self-promoting
thoughts of others, who in process
taint the very opportunity afforded,
often leaving a bitter sting in outcome
and a regret painted
with embarrassment.

The paths to success are rarely paved
with good intentions alone,
and for most of us,
the recognition of opportunity and hard work
is the only way forward,
as any short-cut proffered is usually a pitfall,
for what we accomplish
needs learning and earning for a sound outcome.

The world is strewn with deceit
and ‘easy way’ opportunities,
but our circumstances
are forged from wants and experience,
that lead us to open doors,
not the slight-of-hand from con men,
and it is our sense of justice that sees
success as a reward for commitment and tenacity.

There is no free anything in life,
for balance is a fundamental law,
and those who offer such things are false prophets,
selling delusions at great cost,
so look for equity when opportunity knocks,
our hearts will tells us straight,
‘what’s for us can’t pass by us’
so don’t bite off more than you can sate.
