Until We Are No More

Sporadic the sprays of vilification’s spit,
hatred concealed in political plays,
the grit of propaganda’s cold intent,
vetted in timing well prepared,
shared and media tinged to evoke,
the virus of hatred’s course.
We are one, yet pitted against one-another,
for in their control are we distracted,
enacting what is wanted,
so the direction of fateful activity endures,
procuring the right response,
the culling of unwanted folks who oppose.
Hate, so easily manipulated,
our fate strangulated,
as those with agendas far beyond us,
step by step and hardly honest
collect their dues,
as circumstances sway and peak in ruse.
Religion, politics, racial vilification
to antagonize the lies, to whip up the storms,
and we on ground forlorn
and torn by warring factions,
hate on heat in satisfaction
of the death and suffering of innocents.
While leaders sip tea
and disseminate the seeds
of hate and conflict, paranoia
and innate fears, that cause the panic,
the striking out and belief in tears
and the necessity of destruction.
Death becomes meaningless,
collateral damage a seamless parody of life,
sacrifice to acquire peace,
death to attain life released to insanity,
and who believes the rhetoric,
the lies of compliance purported.
I for one cannot see an end,
the thinking commended on all sides,
and for what, what lasting peace has come from war,
just a break until the next conflict,
the inflicting of pain on everything,
until we are no more.

It confounds me why those who seek war and continue to kill do not realize that if they continue we will all be gone – then who wins and what was won except annihilation of all life. Great work, Tony.
Unfortunately true. God help us! Thanks Phyllis.
