Truths Within the Veils

Indifference is contemptuous,
a sense of rising above and what lays beneath
not worthy of consideration,
and in that act of arrogance,
what can possibly be learned,
gleaned for the experience of others.
‘What ever’ is a cursed expression,
a shutting down, a slap in the face admission
we are without relevance,
and those who spout this gem
are dismissive of all else
other than their own present beliefs.
Often an adolescent stage of perversity,
but sadly a many adults refrain,
in defiance of who we are,
who they think they are,
but in reality a childish response
to perhaps, ignorance.
Opinions are many, a question posed
an answer exposed in viewpoint,
but to be indifferent we must care less
or is it a response of holding secrets:
in arrogance or ignorance,
a shedding we refuse to address.
Open minds and hearts learn fast,
for there is no impediment,
not threat of perception or judgement,
just a viewpoint when asked,
a task that has no attachments
or underlying agendas.
We may choose indifference
when a play can be seen either way,
and have no distinct judgement needed,
yet most expressions of indifference
carry undercurrents, meanings hidden,
and in awareness we may see the clockwork within.
I choose to be alert,
to listen to all voices, no matter how inert,
for epiphanies rise from any mind,
often not deliberately, but there nonetheless,
for we to acquiesce and learn,
discern the truths within the veils.

Indifference is a handicap when it comes to learning. An open mind and alertness is so necessary for growth. Even if there is disagreement, discussing in positive fashion will enlighten. The phrase “whatever!” is such a shut down to any learning. Very well expressed message, Tony.
Thanks Phyllis, glad you appreciated the thoughts. Cheers!
