This and All I Know

Day greets with a smile,
clouds like white brows raised in expectation,
and breeze so gentle the birds sigh,
atop bows from where life is seen forever.
Silence lords over activity, for it is early,
and slumber still the hold of men,
and I awake too early,
thoughts gliding upon a stalling wind.
The quiet attests the breath of living things,
eyes still blurred from dreams,
and stirred to forget while finding feet,
amid this glistening morn.
Blooms stretch open,
the sun a hope of blessed day,
and like soldiers they stand so straight and strong,
in vast and profusely colored array.
In the quiet of my sun-drenched room,
the keys echo as I tap away,
inciting feelings and beauty’s keep,
to eloquently describing the day.
And echoes of life beyond my sanctum,
begin to open up the sky,
reminding me of complicity,
this life-filled plain of blessed sighs.
Attest I must the thoughts that find flight,
more than beauty, more than sight,
for life is a pendulum swing,
from grief to joy and all between.
And as the words roll from my silent tongue,
on a virgin white pristine screen,
I feel the growth of stretching life
abound with verve and glee.
For nothing can dispel the truth,
the pleasure and simplicity,
for life in profound harmony
can uplift us all to flight.
As time dips quill into ink
and words find place on virgin snow,
I cannot be less that grateful,
for this and all I know.
