No Matter the Circumstance

No Matter the Circumstance
No Matter the Circumstance

There can always be an excuse,
a reason wrapped in a stubborn ruse,
a closed mind that can reap negative consequence,
without the acknowledgement of the plain truth,
a delusion held in security of shared responsibility;
for none of us want to be alone,
reliant on anyone, but often we must,
however, how we respond and experience life
is our obligation to ourselves and our circumstance.

No matter the woe,
there can be no blame, no regret
or feelings of persecution,
for each circumstance is ours to bear,
our lessons in life regardless as to how they appear,
as some have it easy, others bear great burdens,
but in the end this is our life to experience
in the best way we can, without judgement,
good and bad just perceptions, never definitive.

We may perceive life in different ways,
but taking on the positive is the only way
to make the best of each moment,
be open to learning and to make peace with who we are,
what we must endure and experience,
ours to accept as each path is different, each life unique,
and whether a genius or slow minded,
an athlete or a cripple, wealthy or in poverty,
this is our life to explore and in that doing,
we aspire to better ourselves.

The onus is upon us, regardless of circumstances,
of mental or physical state,
all relative in our need to learn,
adjustments that see a soul ascend
to higher consciousness eventually,
but what seems impossible
is just a decision to be made,
to accept and learn, in this myriad of complexity
we call a lifetime.

A blink of an eye
may well be as a gold medal run in the Olympics,
a word spoken an impossibility broken,
for our trials can be harsh,
but the same applies,
we are responsible for our lives,
and how we face life head on,
despite the obstacles,
gives rise to a soul growing.

This is wonderful work, Tony. It is good timing, for I need to help one very dear to me who needs to know he is not responsible for the traumatic actions taken by someone close to him. It was a toxic relationship he had to pull out of. I believe your message will help him a lot. Nicely penned on this great work dear poet. Take care.

Glad its helpful Phyllis, it was written in response to someone who commented on my ‘Thought for the day’ about responsibility. I think he might be religious but accused me of being idealistic and using my thoughts as a security blanket, the exact same thing that so many religious people do. ‘ I’ll be fine because God will take care of me.’ Its a great cop out, I believe. It reminds me of the saying ‘God helps those who help themselves.’
