Humility and Balance

Gratitude is the foundation of humility,
for without it we are just plagiarizing life,
using up its resources at no cost,
and in that attitude of deserved rights,
we will never find happiness,
because we think the world owes us,
and how wrong that is.
We, the earth and life itself
exist in symbiosis,
the balance of a flow of energy,
including thought, intention and action,
all of which influence everything,
in a continuous movement of life force,
that sustains life.
When we dishonour nature,
deplete resources and think and act negatively,
the balance is effected,
and as a consequence rectifying that balance
comes at a cost, to our experience of harmony,
natural phenomena and circumstance,
our daily moods and demeanor.
Each element accounts for the various
aspects of life and expression,
and when one or more are out of balance,
the others are required to rectify,
earth to air, fire to water and reversed,
so that balance reigns,
and life is equitable.
When we are driven by ego,
self-invested and careless about life’s gifts,
we become a palpable imbalance
to ourselves and to all life,
contributing to the already dire crisis:
natural imbalance, hatred,
conflict, religious vilification and greed.
Humility is an admission we are imperfect,
learning and hopefully aspiring to higher thought,
as we travail each incarnation of life,
realizing that love, compassion, empathy and sharing
is the answer to all world problems,
and that our deeds on earth
form the paths of not just us
but all life collectively.

Very informative and beneficial life lesson, Tony. I can feel when balance is off, so I take the time to sit in silence and find my center. You bring up some points that are very helpful (gratitude and humility), which enables balance, so, although I do contain them, I will strive to remember when I meditate. Thank you for writing this great and important work.
So pleased you related and enjoyed the work Phyllis. Take care
