Enchanted Woodland Sanctuary

Enchanted Woodland Sanctuary …

Woodland Sanctuary

Within my soul is an enchanted woodland sanctuary,
Where all manner of nature’s living beings abide
In perfect love, balance and harmony,
It is there I return, when peace is elusive
And balance is wobbly, to find my center.

I miss the forests I wandered through once,
In the Cascades of the Pacific Northwest,
And the forests of giants,
The Redwood Forest in California,
Yet I can go there anytime in spirit.

Life flows along as it should and I with it,
Yet, there are times I am thrown off my path,
Something may disturb my balance,
Or cause pain with a feeling of loss,
So, I retreat to my enchanted woodland.

In the woodlands gratification is instant,
And all I love appears before me,
To remind me how blessed I am,
And I love all the more, these gifts
Of family, soul family, and nature.

Author’s Note

There is a spiritual essence in all that lives. That means everything alive, whether human, flora, or
fauna, has an intrinsic nature or indispensable quality which determines its character. I sense and
connect to this spirituality when I journey in nature, especially in woodland areas, or when I
meditate to spiritually travel to the Redwood Forest in the Sierras, the beautiful forests of the
Cascades, or my enchanted woodland sanctuary within. This poem is inspired by a piece by
Tony DeLorger, This and All I Know, which, after several days of disturbing issues, came along at                         the right time for me and I found peace in it. Thank you, Tony.

I am an author on TCE and write mainly in poetry and short stories. I have always liked to write. It is important to me that writing comes from my heart and soul. When writing poetry, if I do not feel a spiritual connection to what I am writing on, I will discard it and go on to something I can connect with on a spiritual level. I live in the moment, I write from the past or beyond the veil. When writing fiction I go with whatever inspires me at the moment - it could be funny, sorrowful, romantic or sometimes done with the use of colloquial language from mountain folk or other cultural regions. I began writing content online in 2007, starting with BellaOnline - A Voice For Women, where I was the Native American Editor, Folklore & Mythology Editor, and the Appalachian Editor. I also wrote articles for The Examiner, Daily Two Cents, and Yahoo. I am currently an author on HubPages. Most of what I write takes a lot of research and I love it. Even if it is a fictional story, I will research for accuracy in whatever it takes to make my characters, their era, their location, etc. become realistic to the reader. I hope you enjoy my works. Thank you for visiting.

My pleasure Phyllis, and a great response through verse, the beauty and calm of nature our gift in life, for it is there we find our peace and realize no matter what, how blessed we are.

Inspiration is such a sincere form of flattery. Amd being one with nature its expression, its purity is so majestic. Nice work Phyllis.

Thank you so much, Paul. Nature does inspire me and when Tony writes a piece on nature, I am doubly inspired. It is always so good to have you visit, thank you.
