Where only eagles should dare
Where only eagles should dare …

Did they notice but endure the rancid taste of humanity
and all it’s wrongs
even long after we celebrated in written words
in the voices and songs
Nowadays I stand and watch as they come back up the valleys
and I listen at the echoes of once defeated
do they speak a new language these days ?
reminding me it was I was too conceited
I promise you my friends we mean no new harms
can we coexist in the here and now…… can we not ?
this day we’ll walk again to the river and watch
in the listening and loving of all that we’ve got
The eagle has returned to our shores and asks but one thing
to raise her young along the river
I speak out to her yes yes we can for we must
watch now as we deliver
Note. we have the eagles once again along the rocky shores in the northeast
this time forever more ?

Thank you, Ed, for writing this poem. It touches my heart, for I watch the eagles soar over the little mountain behind my home – it gives me a peaceful feeling to see them so powerful and free. Lovely poem dear friend.
Nicely penned Ed, and good news for a species to return to natural order, as so many are falling. Cheers!
