No wind blows today my son
No wind blows today my son …
But then father how does the flag move if not for the breezes
what makes it stand away from the pole
I don’t understand
Is it magic?
It moves when the ghost passes beyond the field of battle
and slips quietly into the other worlds
where the eternities reach out to them and grasp ahold
yet merely to heal the wounds
No my son there’s nothing magic about it
let me explain so that you might know
It moves from the last dying breath of a soldier
each one lost in time .
It moves with the last dying breath of a soldier son
I hope you have learned
never ever forget
no wind blows today my son
no wind at all

This verse is lovely, Ed. Tender and heart-rending. I love it. Hope all is well with you, dear friend.
A powerful expression Ed, nicely structured and poignant. Well done my friend. Cheers!
Very well done, put so deeply in my heart, to know this powerful reason for the flag to blow!
