Unforgettable

Unforgettable
Unforgettable

Unforgettable the highs and lows,
each one like an echo,
a memory of extremes we cannot
lose in time’s inevitable show,
like flickers of an old film,
reliving the pains and ecstasy lived,
buried deep within
as we weather life.

Each nuance, each touch
and emotions shared as if yesterday,
clarity personified,
and relive we may in beauty’s name
and try not to
with all the pain we’ve endured,
instead keep those echoes at bay,
there, but out of reach.

And so we shoulder the past,
carry as a burden or as memories, accept,
and even though we may be tainted
by sins, our skin as weathered stone,
all of it is our making,
who we are and what we’ve done
the lessons we must imbibe,
just to survive.

Unforgettable, life’s passage,
all those experiences, the struggle, the joy,
employed to raise our consciousness,
to learn from our mistakes,
the aches that all but cripple us, and
in the end define who we will become,
as we glean wisdom and hopefully accept
that love is all that matters.

Age is a gift in itself,
not because we are running out of time,
but that we become accepting of our own skin,
forgive our sins and begin to understand
the beauty bestowed upon us in life,
the opportunities taken and lost,
the loves we have shared,
and experiences that linger in eternity.

Age and wisdom earned from experience allows us to embrace who we are and where we are in life. Lovely verse, Tony, so well phrased and a pleasure to read.

How well I remember the moving process and the runs back and forth with miscellaneous items. You and your sons (and one son’s girlfriend) are getting ever closer to being settled – it is slow, but, before you know it, all will be in place. Take care and rest when you can.

Thanks Phyllis, thankfully we are but a few kilometers away from the new house, so the transferring is quick. So many possessions and clutter which is being slowly de-cluttered. Nice to start fresh. Take care
