The Panacea for Blindness

The Panacea for Blindness
The Panacea for Blindness

Tolerance is allowing people to be who they are,
regardless of their nature and our judgement,
our short-sighted perspective of a soul in transition,
because we are all in transition,
all changing at a pace we can handle,
and to look down on another
simply limits our own understanding of life,
clouded by biases that are more to do with us
than who we judge.

Good, bad, potential and limitations
are all perceptions that by their very nature are in flux,
as we learn and begin to see with clarity
we are all capable of a gamut of experience
and paths that hopefully teach us the truth,
if we can remain open enough to accept it;
so when we judge others, we degrade ourselves,
for learning often comes from our mistakes,
our harsh resolutions of evaluation.

What is observed as crass and hateful to some,
is simply bravado to another,
yet another layer that needs self-examination,
and when we jump to conclusions,
we are feeding our biases,
those behaviors that live in the past
and have no place in the present;
so it is wise to look beyond the obvious,
to begin to understand a soul and a life.

Connection with each other begins with an open heart,
the potential of love that begins with acceptance,
and not just for those we know,
our loved ones and family,
but every living being on earth,
and in this way we discover our spiritual potential,
our acceptance of love in our life,
to not only reserve it for people of importance to us,
but for everyone, as love has no limitations or measure.

In the calm of a reasoning mind,
we may find a serene place of observance,
where truth becomes evident, and the layers or masks
that people use for protection, fall away in our sight,
revealing their potential within,
and suddenly any judgement is just wrong,
because we are all on the same path,
all in different states of learning,
and sharing love is a panacea for blindness.

Wonderful piece, Tony. To connect with others, to understand another soul, does begin with an open heart as you say. To be imbued with love for all living beings is life at its best and a spirit at peace with harmony and balance. Great work dear poet.

It is good to have you back and to read words of wisdom from you. Take care.

Thanks Phyllis, glad to be back. Still in the middle of unpacking chaos but getting there.
