The Dream Within Which We Find Comfort

The Dream Within Which We Find Comfort
The Dream Within Which We Find Comfort

Thoughts like dreams abound,
in silent homage to life’s sentient visage,
yet what truth do I find,
when dreams in kind ensue,
and sometimes I cannot part them,
which reality in kindness strikes my tune,
my knowing of what is true, and
presumes to be my world.

Often my dreams are portentous,
filled with truths to come,
or explaining my present glum
to placate the deep concerns
that burden my soul, my questioning,
and in what do I invest,
the subconscious that manifest my healing,
or the warnings I must heed.

Perhaps both intercede,
and I in attentive mood give credence to all,
but what of my doubts, those tricks of mind,
aligned to confuse my seeking truth,
in learning what is moot
and what is worth my follow,
sometimes I wish my dreams were labelled,
a plain subtext for me to know.

The mind is complex and meanings vast,
and whether metaphorical or literal,
it’s often a task to find the key to open them,
find assurance in their expression and to heed advice
that is often fed in such esoteric manner,
my doubts just override my will,
as such are my dreams,
laden with whispering secrets even I cannot attest.

Thoughts like dreams abound,
in the ether of possibility,
and the mind is strong, a creator of reality,
and who’s to say which reality is right or wrong:
given, dreamed, thought
or considered in passing, for perhaps life is all a dream,
and dreams are but a chosen reality
within which we find comfort.

Dreams are often mysterious and it is interesting to try to analyze them. You have some great thoughts here to ponder, Tony. I enjoyed this piece. Take care dear poet.

Much appreciated Phyllis, glad it made you think. Reality is somewhat ambiguous on lots of levels. Take care.
