The Stone of Nature’s Artistry

Worn the stones from nature’s wrath,
winds so strong in sand storm moods
and rains to carve their thoughts at will,
from rocks of endured antiquity;
and miraculous the glory of
a slow and artful awakening,
stone so alive in beauty’s keep
in a fluid and keen shaping.
I marvel at the lines and curves,
the enlivening of sensibilities,
all about nature’s deft touch,
her timeless weathered brow;
and the remnants of her artistry,
endowed by creative eyes and hearts,
is beheld in a silent wonder,
a natural process to meld from start.
Under an azure sky,
as heat does rise like morning mist,
shimmering air over timeless stone,
following contours of the ageless;
and in this weighted heat it does occur
how forceful nature’s will can be,
from relentless heat to flooding rains,
her favors fickle, her words complete.
And as my eyes follow
each curve and magical striation,
it is as if water has mirrored itself,
carving with such fluid abrasions;
and so life in reflection of life propagates,
in infinite rhymes and phrasing,
to capture still such moving themes,
and in beauty’s eyes aflame.
Colors so harmonious
in every hue and texture,
marks from such a fluid brush,
a seamless expression, an abandoned rush,
a slow and steady placation
of forms in gentle transition,
before our very eyes appear,
and in respect we feel such humility
in nature’s loving arms.

Beautifully phrased verse, Tony. I was lost in nature’s beauty as I read your words. Great work, dear poet. I love the image you chose, the colors are gorgeous and your words flow as smoothly as the variation of lines nature painted. Well done.
Thanks Phyllis, I do loves these examples of weathering: so artistic as if deliberately sculpted. Cheers!
