Even Storms Must End

Wind meanders through grassy hills and vales,
dark clouds brooding as the chill prevails,
as sun declines to shine this day,
hidden far beneath a blanket grey,
and silence bares the mood below,
impending storms and electric flow,
to light the skies in vibrant flashing,
as choppy seas on shore a thrashing.
Somber minds sense the air,
icy clean and filled with bite
they stare, into the looming clouds,
awaiting the rumble of discontent aloud,
and birds are grounded, in nooks and spires,
eyes to heaven, hearts awry,
as silence burdens a mind in anticipation,
gathering skies of ruminations.
The winds begin to whistle,
picked up by the onshore gales,
and as the rains start to spatter
like tinny bells upon the roof,
in building strength they clatter,
and grumbles mark a distant flash,
a lightening breach through darkest matter,
souls relent to gather inside their abodes.
Burgeoning darker clouds blow in,
lightning raking across with sharpest fingers
to find ground, as the light lingers,
constant flashing and thunderous overtures,
shake windows and floors
as wide-eyed children find arms to secure,
and the rain is crashing, tumultuous barrages
of infernal power, unleashed together.
As moments pass the rain does ease,
the flashing continues
but the thunder wanes, in distant tease,
and hearts slow in the promise of the aftermath,
the worst it seems has passed,
as gutters rush with torrents unleashed,
the tinkling of rain now a storm deceased,
is musical to the ear, as sighs fill the air,
clouds soon part and sun declares another breath.

Sometimes I love a good thunder and rain storm. Nicely penned and emotive, Tony.
Many thanks Phyllis, looking a bit grey here today! lol
Fantastic, love thunderstorms your poetic words just took me through a storm.
Much appreciated Rasma, glad you enjoyed the work. Cheers!
Great imagery and fantastic wordplay, I was in the storm. I always love a good rainbow at the end of a rainstorm, nice to look forward or past the storm for something beautiful. Nice work Tony.
Thanks Paul, glad you appreciated the work. Take care my friend.
