A Slow and Profound Deliverance

In view of all the past mistakes,
the slow and winding path I take,
I can but admit for love’s sweet sake,
that I exist at all.
What purpose found in life’s travail,
keeps us attuned and with a smile prevail,
it can only be love that in deeds must say,
it’s all worth it in the end.
As learning is our ascendant path,
knowledge and wisdom in aftermath,
it is but love that from the start,
gives credence to it all.
Alone we are and alone we’re free,
but connection to others is the soul’s complete,
and love is our saving grace to see,
in selfless homage to life.
And as years turn like fictional pages,
and the spirit thrives in mellow ages,
we begin to see the cages
that we have created with our fears.
Then freedom beckons the soul at will,
to leave all doubts and winter’s chill,
and find the warmth of belonging still
to convince us of our fate.
So wisdom gleaned restores it seems,
to greet a different cause in dream,
and pursue every want and then redeem
all of our past struggles.
As life bestows an equal thread,
to all who accept our own made bed,
responsibility not dread,
accounts for our uplifting.
And the soul in possibility,
realizes what can really be,
when we understand and begin to see
that limits are our devise alone.
Then truly life becomes our will,
every want and dream fulfilled,
when we accept the truths within instilled,
and listen to ourselves.

Throughout life love has held us up, sometimes let us down – but, either way there is always something good to remember. It is a large part of who we are. When love calls, follow (as Kahlil Gibran said). I have learned to follow even though the path is I love alone, but I listen to myself and embrace the love anyway, for it holds me up. I love this verse, Tony. It is so about life and the way of it.
Thanks Phyllis, glad you related and enjoyed, my dear poet. Take care.
