Worth Within Context

Antiquity dictates a repetitive rhyme,
and often it is seen as worthy,
but circumstances are never aligned,
for they change with every moment,
and no solution can solve a timeless notion,
as facing reality in the present
is all that can be effective,
when change is sought.
We live in the present,
here thoughts are prevalent,
where past echoes reverberate,
the future entreats our faith,
yet the present is all we have now,
all else is superfluous,
but reflections and dim light,
lost to the rising sun.
We may look back, look forward,
but if our consciousness resides
anywhere other than now,
our thoughts are pure speculation,
and reality deserves attention,
circumstances deserve clarity,
and if nothing else, being present
is the necessity of awareness.
No matter the tug of experience,
the echo of past knowledge,
what exists in the present is unique
and treating it as repetition is a mistake,
bound by the consequences of imbalance,
as wisdom may well have been gleaned,
but treating circumstance anew is masterful
in its evolving thoughts and outcome.
The present eye is sharper than any other,
seeing reality with clarity,
not bound by biases
but ready to see truth as it occurs,
and that is why reality only exists in the now,
this one moment, the field of contemplation,
the yielding of truth
and the expression of worth within context.

What you have written here, Tony, is very important to realize and remember. To know that the only reality is the present makes life much easier to deal with, without pain/mistakes of the past and doubts/assumptions of the future. Excellent piece and great phrasing. Take care.
I hope all is going well with the household move and all will be settled soon. Take care and take time to rest and enjoy your new home.
Thanks Phyllis, glad you enjoyed this piece: it is important. We sign and get keys on Friday and begin the slow move. But the truck to pick up all our furniture and large things won’t be here until the following Saturday. They wanted us to move in earlier than the 10th but we just didn’t have time so we’re doing it slowly. Probably better. Cheers!
