Wisdom Takes Time and a Patient Heart

Petulant one becomes within the endless forays
of those who think they know,
yet whose limited views are sewn by themselves
within their stringent beliefs,
and this binding seems to give them purpose,
a delusion of truth at their bidding
is our frustration, in listening to their ignominious din,
while we in no pursuit at all,
just see the blatant illusion.
Being preached to by the gormless
is a participation sport I cannot abide,
their echoes endlessly repetitive
and their blinkered view an aperitif to lies,
lost within the delusions of their minds,
no rationale survives their kind as
they are convinced they know,
and cannot be dismissed
out of hand.
The only way we can be
convinced of truth is to face it,
experience it and accept it,
and even then our perception changes,
thus so does our truth,
and declaring it with a megaphone is rather foolish,
in consideration of all that may change
when more comes to light,
when truth in its inimitable way, corrects itself.
Those who spout truth like
an exhalation of breath,
are more often over-zealous for a reason,
and often that is the overcompensation of doubt,
which riddles the mind to question,
yet their direction is for the need to be
profoundly righteous,
a state that rarely abides their attentions,
and in itself, questions.
Wisdom is gleaned, rarely just given,
and balance is a gift of understanding,
and it is we who earn a sagacious mind
through the hard-felt experiences of hurt and learning;
beware those who picture themselves knowing all,
but move within the worshiped ego
of a mind desperate to fit, to be filled with knowledge
but apparently far from achievement,
wearing green upon their sleeve.

There are some who would not accept the truth if it bit them … somewhere. Those who cannot change when truth changes will never grow. One may ask “How can truth change?”, yet you explain it so well, Tony. It is like a jigsaw puzzle, one small piece is not sufficient until it is connected to other pieces, picking up more and more parts till the whole picture is complete. You are so right: wisdom is not given, it is gleaned. Great piece and well expressed.
Glad you enjoyed and appreciated the thoughts Phyllis. Take care and enjoy the remainder of your day!
