The Keegan Trail by Kurt James
Ron Howard – “Kurt James is the best western adventure writer since Max Brand and better than Louis L’amour!”
The Keegan Trail
More than ten years after fighting for the Confederacy in the Civil War, lifelong friends McCall “Mac” Patton and Ron “Sandy” Sands left Clay County, Missouri behind for another life adventure of prospecting for gold in the Colorado Rockies. Fate and destiny intervened and placed an old enemy Union Redleg Captain John Merna, who with his loyal men still hate anyone that had fought for the defeated Confederacy, in the path of Mac and Sandy near Dighton, Kansas. After an ambush that left Sandy dead, Captain Merna, thinking that Mac had perished as well, took his men west towards the Colorado Rockies following a map taken off a dead Confederate officer showing the location of the famed “Reynolds Treasure” that had been buried somewhere in the region of South Park, Colorado. Seeking the treasure, Captain Merna and his men also butchered any former Confederate that crossed their trail. Mac Patton, while seeking revenge for those that had killed his best friend, rescued a young Irish girl named Keegan Doreen O’Rourke and her pup Hugo after her folks had also been murdered by Captain Merna and his men. Mac Patton’s mission had now changed; he had to get Keegan safe to her Aunt Risa in Blackhawk, Colorado before he could resume his trail of justice and retribution against the saber carrying Captain Merna. Follow Mac, Keegan, and Hugo as they encounter renegade Union Redlegs, hostile Indians, sickness, tornadoes, and high mountain passes as they travel “The Keegan Trail” across the plains of Kansas and Colorado to the far away Rocky Mountains.

Once again Kurt James hit one out of the ballpark …

Format: Paperback
Once again Kurt James hit one out of the ballpark with his latest adventure novel. I hope he continues the saga of Keegan, Risa, Mac, and of course Hugo the dog. This book is a pleasure to read – and I read it – in it in its entirely in one sitting on a snowy Saturday.

I always wait in anticipation for Kurt James books. As a woman he treats women in his books as strong and independent and not just pretty fluff for the story. His hero’s are flawed which make them believable, but they are hero’s never less. To steal a line from one of his books his hero’s are, “One to ride the river with.” When Mac Patton in this story found the young girl Keegan I cried my eyes out. A good cry and a better story. Love this on Kurt James.

Downloaded this last night and stayed up until I finished. Another great story from a master storyteller. It amazes me the amount of research that goes into a Kurt James adventure. I have downloaded some books to my kindle from amazon and never got by the first chapter, but not a Kurt James book. A must read.

Another great adventure from Kurt James. This novel starts in Kansas and moves with action and adventure into the Colorado Mountains. I loved all the characters in this book. Looking forward to more Colorado adventures from this author.

An exciting book to add to my list of ‘must reads’. This is a well written synopsis, Kurt, and reviews from readers are fantastic. Well done.
Thank you Phyllis – been a good seller in the first 48 hours of release. Trivia about this book is that I started with the title first because I wanted to honor my grand daughter Keegan – Then I wrote the story.
Congrats Kurt, hope it sells well. Cheers!
Thanks Tony – so far, so good…
