The Soul Mirrors Truth
What mirrors the soul cannot be ignored,
the reality of who people are
cannot be dressed in deceit forever,
as behavior proves intention,
reactions show the source,
and measure can be determined,
by a heart and its giving
or a heartless lie of living.
Clandestine they may be,
but truth always rises to the surface,
and no matter what hides beneath lies,
it is always temporary,
for no matter how adept pretenders are,
they are still shadows of truth,
and light has a way of revealing shadows
to placate the ruse.
There are two distinct types of people in the world,
the manipulators and the givers,
one lives to control, to uplift the self,
the other in sharing is selfless
within a wealth of love and compassion,
and often what rides the surface
is not what’s beneath, for love is always evident,
when stripped of all those cheap disguises.
What we do, how we act
is the mirror of our soul, our true self,
and no matter how we try, in wanting something else,
we are vulnerable to a discerning eye,
and it doesn’t matter the clothing we wear,
truth stares at us in despair,
when lies are all a person has to share,
and love is an elusive concept.
So shallow many people can be,
so used to their delusions and lies
they cannot recognize what love is,
too driven to compromise everything
for appearance, for status and control,
when all they really want is to be loved,
the irony of their loveless, selfish lives,
yet they will not change for they live in fear of loss.

I fully agree with your words of wisdom here..it is sad that these pretenders cause so much havoc in innocent people’s lives before they are caught in their own wicked traps..but as you said one day all the lies and pretences will have to come to light….the best we can do is to be true ourselves..thank you so much for sharing your beautiful and thought provoking words dear Tony..really enjoyed reading..

I always believed that in each little fib or bold faced lie there is a little truth to be told. Liars will always be exposed. There are always too many holes to cover up in every lie ever told. To get away with one you might have to be the devil. Some people tell so many they start to believe their own lies, it is truly sad. Excellent piece Tony.
