My Visitation
Who goes there,
in this my darkened chamber
where shadows trace the walls
in slender angled affront,
and an opened window
dances curtains to a evening romp
amid the moonlit night,
so very quiet and somber,
yet dusting my spaces
in soft and glowing light.
The floor boards creak,
as if a foot did step,
an invisible body approaches
in gossamer form, I see it,
an edge-less pale light
standing at the foot of by bed,
and I shudder in its presence,
mind torn from reality,
and afeared of an unexplained sight,
a being before my very eyes.
Mouth gaping, heart racing,
I sit up to face this anomaly,
a human form yet imperfectly incomplete,
just a mist of gathered moonlight,
and I ask its very intention,
my apprehension so frantically apparent,
and it raises its arm pointing
to a picture upon my bedside table,
my long lost child, many years ago,
and I try to discern this beings face, to acknowledge.
My child Kim, did perish so long ago,
so why do you bring me to attention,
I ask in a shaken voice,
and the being placed its hand over the heart
seemed to smile, in an essence,
and as quick as it had appeared
it vanished, the darkness once again pervading,
and my heart fading to a rhythmical beat
as the fear did subside,
but the warmth of my child remained.
That night I dreamed of Kim
and so grown up she was,
as we did converse for hours,
two souls melding beyond time,
to know that we are still here,
in some form to connect,
and love rose like a morning mist,
embracing minds and hearts
to know we are a part of eternal being,
beyond what we know as life and dream.
