I’ve Done Quite a Lot of That…

How true the quiet heart,
unmoved by strife or contention,
rather, in acceptance
and responding kindly to provocation,
because a serene mind is creative
and can unravel the harsh obstructions
of hast and malcontent.
Knowing resolution is immanent,
is a faith in the process of life,
when a mind is free from contention’s vice
and invested enough to see endings
before they manifest,
this comes from inner peace,
all things but a result of thought.
A quiet heart is a heart not driven by ego,
one attuned to life and not focused on self,
gain or reward,
rather the flow of positive energy
that benefits all,
in learning and circumstance,
a broader perspective within harmony.
Stillness of mind is a key to a quiet heart,
able to observe without prejudice,
understand without interference
and intuitively know without judgement;
all of this in a mind
able to quell the cacophony of life
and see with clarity its process.
In youth I was ego driven, temperamental
and without patience,
all of which changed when I had children,
and they taught me more than I taught them,
but now perhaps I have the upper
hand as far as advice goes,
but all up life is about learning and changing,
and I’ve done quite a lot of that.

Good one, Tony. I especially like this part,
“able to observe without prejudice,
understand without interference
and intuitively know without judgement;”
There is not just poetry here, there is wisdom as well.
Much appreciated Chris, glad you enjoyed my thoughts. Cheers!
Yes, words of wisdom for sure. Having children does teach us a lot, and you just keep learning, Tony, always seeking, always learning and sharing your life lessons to help others. I always sense your quiet heart and peace that emanates from you. Marvelous! Great work.
Glad you appreciated it Phyllis, have a great day!
Funny how the little ones give you a completely different perspective of pretty much everything. My kids still have a lot of growing and I’ll just have to wait for that epiphany to happen when my heart can quiet down and focus. Great work Tony.
Glad you related and enjoyed Paul. Cheers!
Just yesterday I sat and watched my grand daughters as they played and as always it was a learning experience for me. Awesome piece Tony.
