You, me and the paddy fields…
YOU, ME AND THE PADDY FIELDS
Hold my hand and let us walk once again
through the innocent charm of these paddy fields,
and sit together on the narrow mud banks
which partition with precision the lush greenery,
hiding ourselves in this cocoon of simplicity
woven deep in the veil of nature’s beauty.
Let us watch the glorious streaks of twilight
caress lovingly the yearning crops,
which sway in the gentle breeze to the tunes of
a melodious harvest song,
and hear the lone birds loudly call out to their mates
from the nearby coconut trees.
Let me lay my head and rest my worries
on the warmth of your strong shoulders,
and let the tinkle of my bangles and chime of anklets
recite softly to you my unwavering love,
as the evening skies gets adorned in crimson robes
mercilessly mimicking the blushing me.
A sudden shower of rain then unleashed,
our desires enslaved to modesty,
and the intoxicating earthly scent that lingered
flooded our senses with passions never before known,
as the stars of night carved in luminous letters
our feelings for each other on the velvet skies.

I will trust you,
as far as the waves come to kiss the seashore sand
i will come for you,
as long as the sun and moon are remembered,
i will remember you
and till the very last beat of my heart,
i will love you”
