Words with Wings

When you feel beaten,
when life shows its upper hand,
the score is against you,
nothing left to command,
just remember that surrender
is no way out at all,
that if you’re still breathing,
you’re not finished, stand tall,
for life is worth the fighting,
even when the odds are great,
for it is your intention
that in the end rivals fate,
and in honor of this gift of life,
you should nurture each moment,
preserve your integrity,
engender love and own it,
for even in the misery
of pain and adversity,
what shines within you
is a heart of humanity,
an eternal flame gifted in love,
and when the time comes,
death just frees you
as the flight of a dove.

Treasure each day
for what it holds
and the possibilities,
for each earthly life is finite,
and death just a synergy
of movement,
and while you are here,
learn as much as you can,
for wisdom is earned
and ignorance stagnation,
and be kind to travelers
just as yourself,
try not to judge
what yet you’ve not felt,
and make peace with life,
try not to contend,
for each step away from love
is a burden that bends your strength,
the lessons in aftermath,
a harsh recompense,
and hold onto to friendships
your soul mates in being,
trust them and love them
and tell them your dreams.

It is not what you do
but how you do it
that defines you,
learn to forgive
and accept yourself
for the games that can blind you,
and be true to yourself,
let no man dissuade you,
live all your dreams
and let no regret bind you,
and in struggle
let not you think it personal,
its just the lessons of life
that will in the end, uplift you,
for pain is just another feeling,
an indication of change
and a honed discerning;
you are free to choose
all your directions,
and potential is endless
when fear is behind you,
so make each day productive,
be kind and care,
live fully in the present
and bear the world
with a pleasured smile.
