Strife, the Perception I’m Rectifying

A wave of devastation crashes into reality,
sucks up all hope and possibility
from thoughts and expectations,
yet I cannot flinch, I cannot respond at all,
for devastation is just a loud blink,
and after that blink what has changed,
the balance of my bank account,
a subjective date upon a calendar,
no, nothing changes without consequence,
but the depth of consequence
is as much about our response to it,
rather than the consequence itself.
I have finally learned not to respond,
just accept and wait for change
that will fulfill my wishes, and in the end,
what I once called devastation
is no more than a passing glitch in time,
and I, better off for the accepting of it:
no emotions spent, no imagination wild,
just my road to walk,
and everything I want in place,
one way or another as the universe provides,
as I allow circumstances to be,
and serve with my calm and considered thoughts.
Devastation can follow its own path,
for to me it is far less,
and even if I fall to my death,
what have I to regret
in this beautiful life I have been given;
so fear slowly drains away,
and life can unfurl come what may,
and I, always in acceptance and trust,
know I will be delivered to whatever
and wherever my soul decides,
my path the ride of my life,
and strife just a perception I am rectifying.

Circumstances do change, perspective changes, yet some things remain the same in heart and soul even when perspective changes a little. Great work Tony with thoughts to ponder on. I am going through a lot of changes, too, but my heart still holds true to self and what I love. I love it when you think deeply and share your thoughts that make me think deeply. Life is full of changes – may yours be of great benefit and joy for you.
Thanks Phyllis and in trusting the universe we find a calm resolve with all our tribulations, and it is easier then to deal with whatever life puts forward. Glad you related my friend. Cheers!
Adversities cannot be avoided in life..but as you said, the depth of it depends on the way we choose to respond to it..whatever we go through, at the end, we should be thankful for being given the chance to live on this beautiful earth,I guess…thank you so much for sharing your perspectives..always a pleasure to read your poems dear Tony..
Glad you related and enjoyed my thoughts Anjana, take care.
