Open Your Eyes and See Reality

Beauty rests on anything attuned,
open to the miracle of life in bloom,
and those who cannot attest this view
are lost to life’s pleasures.
If a heart cannot see,
what love can manifest to be,
it blindly seeks a soliloquy
from a single word of ending.
If a soul cannot glean its fill,
from afferent life, from joy fulfilled,
what chance has a soul instilled
without the wonder of sentient being.
If a mind cannot appreciate,
the joyous experience of a living state,
who can show just what to sate,
in this wonderful plain of existence.
Beauty is the lustrous surface of reality,
beyond the realms of certainty,
an eternal gift of proclivity,
to appreciate every moment of life.
From this perspective we are swept away,
surrounded by enlightenment’s play,
to eyes accustomed to a mundane betrayal
when life is so much more.
Through beauty’s eyes we begin to feel alive,
see life in far broader scope and surprise,
and we soon change to realign our eyes,
to imbibe every single moment.
And once transformed,
life is completely reborn,
everything takes on meanings unsought,
in our past disconnection.
Complain as we must,
the displeasure of our failing trust,
yet it is we who fail ourselves,
with eyes so closed to the possibilities afforded.

To be open to beauty all around us, to see what can manifest, to know the inner peace of joy is life itself. Tony your words of beauty soothe my soul, calm my restless mind and give strength to my weakened body. This verse also gives me the desire to go outside and look around at nature’s beauty so close to me. Thank you for this great piece, dear poet.
Glad you appreciate the work Phyllis, and hope you’re feeling better too. Take care.,
