Avoiding the Pain of Change

What is a bump is just a bump,
what is a disaster can only be a disaster
if that is what we expect,
yet if our perception changes,
then so does our experience,
less or more is ours to determine,
our thoughts the driving force
of circumstance.
We have the choice to panic,
be overwhelmed by life’s pitfalls,
or simply accept and take it in our stride,
and how we experience the ride
depends entirely upon that fact,
so why do we put ourselves
through such disarray and emotion,
when all challenges can be just bumps.
What may seem a disaster
can just be a simple change,
that in the end is more beneficial,
although we don’t see it at the time,
as all obstacles are attached to gifts,
the only way most of us learn,
but if we accept calmly the play,
we can easily avoid the pain and chaos.
Learning is necessary, but suffering is not,
and the more we look at life’s obstacles
as mere challenges to overcome,
the more we avoid the pain of resistance
and imbalance,
that our overzealous expectations adjust,
and make far worse than needed.
There is always a silver lining,
it simply comes with struggle, always,
and if we can but see it up front,
then the passage is clearer,
the experience is less feared
and we as a consequence, less effected,
each time we face opposition.

Change is constant and the best way to deal with it is as you so eloquently provide Tony. When I look back over my life I can see that the following is so true:
“as all obstacles are attached to gifts,
the only way most of us learn,”
I am in a ‘moving on’ phase and letting go of what needs to be set free, so this verse of yours is very helpful for me at this time. Thank you for sharing this.
Great work as always Tony. Have a good evening/night.
I’m glad you found the words helpful Phyllis, take care my friend,
So amazingly written dear Tony..i do have the habit of panicking at the slightest hint of trouble and so your words really inspire me a lot..thank you so much for sharing…
Glad you related and found truth within it Anjana, we so often create pain for ourselves unnecessarily. Take care dear friend.
