A Poet and his Quill
A Poet and his Quill
Alone, he resides in a temple of words
far away from this nonchalant world,
where sheets of blank parchments and a well worn quill
are the only companions in his relentless pursuit,
his paths pre chosen by the unerring hands of destiny
and he, a sacred vessel to serve a higher purpose.
Tenderly, he segregates a few wisps of thoughts
from the crescendo of ideas in his mind,
and gives them gossamer wings with imagination
to reach and conquer new heights,
as raw and untamed emotions begin to meekly morph
into adoring slaves of his fingertips.
Fragile is this parchment that holds his heart
and distant is the oblivious shore,
cruel are the towering waves of criticism
and merciless are the tides of time,
yet his string of words start their journey with pride
as if they were mere water drops now transformed into gilt edged clouds.
Lovingly, he looks at his art once again
and tosses it boldly to the oncoming waves,
shielding it with eyes as far as he could see
and then nursing the momentary vacuum he feels,
before returning to another blank parchment
after bestowing his silent blessings.
“Let the purity of my thoughts be your invincible shield,
and my faith in you be your guide,
to sprinkle specks of beauty in calloused hearts
and to soothe lost and troubled souls,
let your diamond sheen pierce the veils of ignorgance
and sow seeds of love in hatred’s lands,
let you remain as a testament to the worth of my quill
and be fondly remembered for eons to come”

Lovely words Anjana, noble and true of a poet’s heart: to propagate beauty and love and all higher ideals to those who would fall to the mundane life of insensitivity and lack of awareness. Excellent work my dear friend.
Thank you so much dear Tony..I am truly delighted that you liked this effort..always grateful for your support and kind words..
I came across this magnificent gift to all poets in our world. It’s masterfully crafted by your quill indeed. Poetry is certainly a treasured gift bestowed upon a poet who’s mind, heart and soul must be open and ready to receive it from their Muse. To soothe the hearts and souls of those who will read poetry is the aim of all poets. Thank you for sharing your marvelous work, I enjoyed this piece immensely.
