Want and Change, My Rearranging Time

Want and Change, My Rearranging Time
Want and Change, My Rearranging Time

Grieve I must for the losses,
yet accept I must the changes,
opening doors I cannot remember wanting,
yet they will come, as sure as thoughts entice
and the world embraces,
and who am I to face them unexpected,
when surely I did want,
another step to goals aspired,
yet forgotten and aside they’ve been,
in the crisscross of my circumstances,
so often changing.

So mistimed my wants and visions,
they by process follow my ragged path,
manifest at my feet long after
I wanted something else,
and so life is burdened by mistiming,
circumstances askew,
so as they say, be careful what you wish for,
for it may come true,
in the least opportune moment,
and we are baffled by the waste,
the misplace of future.

Slowly I grasp my flagrant use of thought,
when thinking should aught
have been more considered,
and perhaps a little flippant, I was reckless,
and what greets me is my past aligned to boost me,
yet not now, for I have changed
and yet another path arranged,
to take me where I should be,
I wish I could see enough ahead,
to allay the backlash in my stead,
before I let the opportunities go.

My own adversary,
much deadly that anything else,
contrived and maligned I be,
when time mocks me, haunts my soul,
watches as I stumble too and fro,
trying to grasp this timing that eludes me;
although now I just take moments at a time,
let flow the thoughts that used to bind,
and be kinder to my soul,
what I want just flows in its good time and I don’t wait,
just accept the fate that appears.

Perhaps by the time I’m dead,
I will have mastered all this,
and by then, probably won’t need it.

I believe if not for the mistiming and the burden of ragged paths in life, there would be no great poets. If life was perfect would we be even be here? It is love and kindness that pulls us back up and hope that keeps us moving on. And move on we must, for the best is yet to come. This is another verse of yours, Tony, that stirs my mind to pondering and you know how I love that. Well done, dear friend.

Glad you enjoyed it Phyllis, the root of this the reality of thoughts creating reality, bound by time and not always when we want it. Such is human life. Cheers!
