The Valued Lesson of Listening

When the soul whispers and we do not listen,
the trauma of stagnation lingers,
and circumstances cascade in iterative succession,
avoidance denied, learning deprived,
just the raw hurt of experience
in projection.
What the soul knows is often elusive
for the sentient mind,
trapped in the limitations of arrogance
and a misguided self-assurance,
when we should always be attentive
to that inner voice of wisdom.
Being open is a risk,
for so many pitfalls mark our paths,
yet without it we are bound by conjecture,
our biases and experience not always a teacher,
and so distracted we may be
to be caught up in contention.
We talk and talk, yet do we ever listen,
to the wind, nature’s songs and
the mutterings of our heart,
all wisdom for our attention,
and the soul, so many facets of living,
so much wisdom in its outpouring.
‘Tis well we learn to listen, pay attention,
for answers always beside the questions,
guide us to calmer waters,
far from the turbulence of ignorant disregard,
and the more we ignore our inner voice,
the less our choices in response.
Trust in the self,
for we are not new, and experience
is like an echo of past, there to uplift our hearts,
as we traverse our paths of learning,
to discern our place, our space
to grow and become the being we should be,
in this our slow and learned ascension.

It behooves me to listen to the voice of my soul, for that is where my truths come from. Excellent work, Tony. All can benefit from this piece.
Thanks Phyllis, yes most people are in too much of a rush these days to take the time to listen, even to their own intuitive inner voice. Glad you enjoyed my friend. Cheers!
Each and every one of us should listen to our inner soul… if all of us did this the world would be such a better place. Nice work Tony.
Certainly would be Kurt, we hold such knowledge within, separated from the ego and the culmination of more that we think. Connecting with the inner self is a liberating and useful cause. Cheers!
